How I create and review content, source facts, use AI tools, stay independent, and handle advertising.

A younger person's arms wrapped gently around an older loved one, their hands clasped together

This policy explains how Elderly Care Help creates and reviews its content, sources facts, uses AI tools, stays independent, and handles advertising. It applies to every page on the site.

My promise

I publish plain-English, independent guidance to help you arrange and pay for a loved one's care.

How I research and write

I write each guide from real front-line care experience, researched against trusted, named sources: the NHS, GOV.UK, Age UK, Citizens Advice, Carers UK, the Homecare Association and Alzheimer's Society.

Every figure, threshold, benefit rate and price is traced to a current source. Where a fact changes yearly, I add a "Last reviewed" date so you know how fresh it is. If I am unsure of a number, I leave it out rather than guess.

Accuracy and review

I review every guide for accuracy before it is published, and re-check it on a regular cycle because rates and rules change. If you spot something out of date or wrong, please tell me and I will fix it.

The guidance on this site was last reviewed in July 2026. It is scoped to England, with notes where Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland differ.

Authorship and expertise

This is health and finance content (sometimes called YMYL, "your money or your life"), so authorship matters. Every guide is written by me, Graham. I cared for my own mum at home for around ten years and have since worked as a home carer for two UK care providers, and I am ex-forces and platoon medic trained. As the site's sole independent author, I keep the guidance accurate by tracing every figure to a current source (GOV.UK, NHS, Age UK or the Homecare Association) and stamping each guide with a "last reviewed" date, rather than relying on a separate paid reviewer.

How I use AI

I may use AI tools to help with research, drafting and editing. AI never has the final word: I check every fact against its source and approve every page before it is published. I don't publish unreviewed AI output.

Independence and advertising

This site is independent. No care provider funds it, and I earn no referral or lead-generation fees, so nothing I write is influenced by anyone paying me.

I may show advertising (such as Google ads) in future to help cover the running costs. If I do, it will be clearly marked, it will never change what I recommend, and any income goes back into the site. I will always disclose it here.

My limits

I provide general information, not personal financial or care advice. I cannot advise on your individual situation. For that, contact your local council, an independent financial adviser who specialises in care fees, or a charity such as Age UK or Citizens Advice.

Corrections and contact

If you find an error, or a figure that has changed, please contact me. I take corrections seriously and update promptly.
